Today is an exciting juncture in our country’s history. It is the time that Ethiopia strives to be the hub of light manufacturing industries in Africa, placing an ambitious plan to develop world class industrial parks with fascinating hard and soft infrastructure.
|The strategic plan provides the overall framework in terms of the industrialization vision, goal, strategies and programs that need to be implemented in the coming years as to support the country’s progress towards becoming a middle-income country by the year 2025.
Notably, to trigger, complement and support comparative advantage, as validated through a strategic planning, Industrial Parks Development Corporation of Ethiopia (IPDC) is mandated to develop and operate wide ranges of industrial parks in the country. Between 2016 and 2025, IPDC will develop 100,000 ha of land (10,000 Ha annually), for a total factory floor area of 20 million m2 (2 million m2 delivered annually). Thus, working together, I am so confident that remarkable results would be registered in the year to come and further progress will be made in the second growth and transformation period, GTP II (2016-2020).
